Visit a former coal mining near Durham
Join John Sargent of the National Trust in this episode, The Black Beaches of Durham.
Sargent travels to the Northeast village of Easington Colliery in County Durham with Terry Deary, author of the Horrible Histories books and native of the area.
Together they visit the former coal mining community which once held a deep mistrust of the National Trust when they came to help clear up their beach.
This episode is part of a series, People’s Landscapes, that explores how people, places, and cultures intersect.
