Museum & Gold Vault Tour

Join Royal Oak for a private tour through The Federal Reserve Bank of New York’s museum. We will learn about the role of “The Fed” in the U.S. economy, as well as the history of the building designed by architectural firm York and Sawyer with decorative ironwork by Samuel Yellin of Philadelphia. With elements taken from Florentine banking houses, the building’s architecture intended to inspire public confidence in the Federal Reserve System and when it was completed in 1924, the New York Fed was the largest bank structure in the world. At the end of the tour we will go deep into Manhattan’s bedrock to visit the gold vault. Located 80 feet below street level, the gold vault is the world’s largest known depository of monetary gold, larger than even Fort Knox. We will discover when the gold bars arrived, who owns them, what unique features allow them to be identified and what they are really made of.
