Yesterday was an important day in British history, as it marked the 60th anniversary of Churchill’s last day at 10 Downing Street. This, in the year that marks 50 years since the man's passing, reminds us how enduring a mark Churchill left on British, and indeed world history.

Anglophiles have an enduring appreciation of the UK, of course, but many of us are also bibliophiles. A love of books marries so perfectly with a love of British culture, and of course the perfect confluence of these passions - a well-stocked library chock full of English history and culture - is quite the treat for us here at Royal Oak.

In less than a week, our first travel program of the year, Just Go! Holidays’ Society Stories trip, departs. Last year I had the privilege to join the Society Stories itinerary departing in the late summer and I’m envious of the Royal Oak supporters who get to kick off their spring in such spectacular fashion.

The Royal Oak Foundation is very pleased to announce that Steve Casey and Irene Grigoriadis of Rancho Santa Fe, CA have pledged $250,000 in response to the Fleming Challenge to endow the Foundation's Drue Heinz Lectures. The Fleming Challenge funds will match 50% of their pledge, providing another $125,000.
